This Old Subie Part Two-Low Hanging Fruit
So, I got a list from my daughter of all the things the dealership said was wrong with the car which included a computer update, oil change, burnt out tail lights and front side maker lights, rear wheel bearing, both front axles, and sub frame differential bearings. They also suggested changing the oil. As I said, the total cost of repair would have been $4000. The diagnostic cost my kid $200 which the dealer would credit to any repairs. I asked her to get the computer updated (I couldn't do it) and change the oil which she did under the $200 limit.
The next thing I did was change the tail lights and the side marker light which ain't rocket science but it is a hassle. If you know, you know. Doing this myself saved over $100. No joke.
Here's a video on replacing the taillight.
Here's one on replacing the side maker light.
