This Old Subie-Part One
This is part one of an indeterminate series of episodes about restoring a 2014 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited.
Background: My wife purchased this car in 2014 used it for a few year before turning it over to our daughter used it to get through college and the first few years of her working life. With a few exceptions the car served her well until it threw an code for the oil overheating while driving through Arizona this past summer.
She took the car to her local dealership and the told her that they could not duplicate the error but recommend about $4000 in repairs. Knowing that the car wasn't worth much more the the cost of the repairs she opted to sell the car and buy a new one.
The dealership (Toyota) offered her $3000 for the car. Not wanting the hassle of selling to a private party she asked me what I thought. I said I'd give her $4000 for it and she accepted the offer. So, the saga begins...
